While I rarely played MP and in party chat... ... when I did, I never saw a voice indicator in the game on the map. This was one of the reasons why we often wouldn't use party chat.

If you go to custom match, you now have the option to play in "regular" or "hardcore" mode. Hardcore mode is pretty tough.
